A massive response to climate change requires systematic reformation. I think we've delve to deep into our respective technologies - so much so that the switching costs might be too far out of reach to achieve our goals for carbon emission reduction and waste management. And by switching costs, I am referring to the dependence on technologies within technologies - the gas engine per example. So much of infrastructure are built upon the elder platforms, and a switch would simply cost too much: monetarily, and the burden of societal re-education on plausible emerging systems.
