I'm currently reading Conqueror, a semi-fictitious series about Genghis Khan, written by Conn Iggulden. It's pretty nicely written (I have the swedish translation though, can't speak for the english counterpart) and what I like about it is that the author tries his hand at being relatively historically correct, which is kind "take-it-or-leave-it" since the original texts about the Khan apparently didn't stand the test of time very well.

4/5 would recommend. I'm only at book #2 so take it with a pinch of salt.
