People are quarantining themselves and going out less in general, so restaurants and the like aren't getting enough customers to stay in business. Lots are just completely out of business at this point. The governor over here just prohibited restaurants from letting customers sit down in house to eat too. All food must be taken to go. My favorite ramen spot only does sit down, no take out, so they're just fucked 
Yeh very similar things are happening here. There is no kind of active lockdown here but restaurants and pubs are all completely empty. Most of my friends who work in those places have been laid off.
The only retails firms who will survive this are the ones who already have legal monopolies, which is a depressing thought. Who needs a highstreet full of shops when you can just have 30 Tescos?!
