Is consensual incest morally wrong or just a societal taboo?
So y’all might’ve noticed things have gotten a little silly lately with the goat threads in Off-Topic. They talked about some pretty wild stuff. While I completely understand why these threads were deleted and moved around, I can’t help but think the underlying point being made in these threads made some (weird) kind of sense.
When we think about these disgusting topics, we instantly think there’s no discussion to be had. It’s wrong and that’s that. But why exactly are these things wrong? I saw a post Maya made in wibbles a little while ago that talked about incest. She made the point that if protection is worn, there’s nothing inherently immoral about sleeping with your consenting relatives.
Instantly I thought that was a pretty bold and gross thing to say. But it did get me thinking. What is immoral about incest, exactly? If you’re wearing protection and not wearing anything, are there any moral risks?
I do not intend this to be some joke thread. I’m genuinely interested in what everyone has to say, and whether anyone can come up with a valid argument that clearly points out the supposed ‘immorality’ of incest between two consenting people wearing protection.
