I don’t understand how that quote by Ele is related to this topic, explain? I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but you might see an answer to this later in my post, though.
I was told by the two staff members who closed the thread, that the reason for closing that thread was to protect itemp from hate.
I agree that my questions are loaded. They contain my opinion, but it doesn’t make them harder to answer, even if you disagree.
Saying that theft is bad is not virtue signaling.
You’re stating the obvious by saying that I disagree with staff, but it doesn’t mean I hate them.
As for “innocent until proven guilty”. It’s a fair point, as it always is. However, I’m not the investigator here, I’ve created this thread from my point of view, and I’m inviting people to share theirs. My point of view is as follows: a person who I’ve known for a few years to be the scummiest by far in the dueling community stole money from my friend.
I think, Levi, Grohenbird and Shield witnessed the duel, and they don't seem to be denying that it happened or that deoxer accidentally sent more money.
Reading this thread, I have a hard time believing that the community generally doesn’t tolerate theft.
Witch hunt is when you gang up on somebody of a different opinion, right? I think it’s different from exposing a thief.
My point in the last question was that even if it’s 100% proved, such theft will not be punished, it’s nowhere in the rules. Okay, but the we should be able to at least talk about it.
Voluntarily =/= by mistake. It’s like saying that somebody “voluntarily” drops their wallet.
I know that there is no chance of itemp getting punished for it, which is one of the reasons that I want to bring it to attention.
Does you bringing CL up reveal your true intentions behind defending itemp? Are you hoping that your best player does not get banned, so you get some items and tc as prizes? I wouldn’t assume this. Whatever the case is, rest easy. There is no way itemp will get banned for this and CL isn’t very high on my priority list(gets old after you win 3 in a row).
Once again,they closed that thread because they did not want hate on itemp, both staff members involved told me that.
You’re partly right when you say that taking Deoxer’s side is what I think is right. I don’t deny his mistake. Staff members are investigating on their own, and I’m not involved with it.
The screenshot you’ve presented hardly represents what actually happened. Deoxer was clearly in a bad state of mind then. He might've thought there was no way to get the money back. However, soon after that, he did try to get the money back from itemp, and, when refused, he created a dispute. Then itemp lied to him to make him cancel then dispute, then he blocked him on discord and deleted all his messages.
And of course, everything here is “optional”, itemp not obliged to do anything. What I am upset about, is how scummy it is and how tolerant of it you are.
When I’m saying that what itemp did is a real-life crime, I’m not using it as a reason to get him banned, I’m confident that it won’t get him banned or punished in any way. I’m using it to emphasize how disgusting his actions are. This is not an appeal to staff, this is an appeal to your sense of justice.
Your questionnaire:
-Nobody said it put deoxer in a terrible financial situation. He made a mistake while upholding his part of the deal, which he didn’t even have to do. As you said, it was OPTIONAL for deoxer to be honest, but he chose to be. This is what boggles me the most. How do you decide to steal from a person who was going out of their way to treat you fairly?
-Itemp’s decision was not “to keep unwanted money”. His decision was to keep the money sent to him by accident, then trick the person into cancelling a dispute and then block all communication with them and delete all his messages.
-I’ve never stolen another person’s money, I highly doubt my clanmates did, I highly doubt most of people here ever did.
-What do you mean by reversed roles? I have been sent more USD than intended, if that’s what you mean, and I never kept it.
-I’m not as keen to see itemp punished, as I am keen to see other people, especially duelists, disagree with what he does. I’ve witnessed a depressing decline of the dueling community over the past few years, and itemp possesses all the worst traits in duelists that led to it. Of course, I’m biased, because I have a lot of negative experience dealing with this person(as do a lot of people, who, apparently, choose not to speak up here).
-I’m by far not the “cleanest”, but I wouldn't take advantage of you to steal your money, unlike the person you're defending.
In the end, you guys did a genuinely good job defending itemp. To me, it shows your willingness to tolerate the excessive toxicity that is present in this community. I see it like this: those of you who are dueling do not challenge a scummy person for their actions for fear of backlash from them and their friends or simply for fear of being laughed at. So instead, you adopt the same behavior, because if you're playing fair and acting polite, you're at a huge disadvantage against a scummy person. By accepting such behavior in others or adopting it yourself, you are contributing to the dueling community becoming even worse than it is now. Of course, it's only my opinion, but this is what the thread is actually about.
Levi said “I’ve seen some scummy shit on this game” and proceeded to mock Deoxer in game. You create this environment, you choose to treat each other like this.
