FURTHERMORE, lenshu allows for more creativity which is why BOOST plays completely different to iTemp and Felnin plays completely different to both and YET, all playstyles are still competitively viable.
whereas in abd everyones cosplaying cicada and ancient and using movememory all day and the only player that even plays remotely different is ponzo and thats because all the guy does is hunt for decaps all day and doesnt care about losing the match overall in bets
you legitimately cant watch an abd match and tell the difference between how some guy named AlphaReject2 plays and how Hater plays its hilarious.
i think that about sums up the current state of abd very well

u may be wondering why i bleeped myself in my last sentence, its because a lot of playground insults hit home for a lot of the chopped toribash players out there
always looking out for the little guy
never used movememory and i still manually click each joint
if i overclick a joint i lose the game

abd is very opener dependent for sure, but there are still trends over time, like right now people are in love with one handed openers where your other hand goes for a leg grab or decap, or sometimes nothing
back not so long ago it was all snapkick lifts, which are actually pretty strong against the current openers, so idk how that occured
in the early history of this planet you would be called out for going for inside grab claps instead of open hand claps lol
as for playstyles that is truly a lie idk, most of the alt duelers play very similar but play against a bunch of 10th dan + players and youll get all types of weird gameplay, i think this playstyle comment is just true for any mod, though if the game ends by turn 2 youre definitely right about other mods allowing you to express a style
there is this one guy who does some type of insane jumping side knee, and another guy who somehow always grabs the side of your hand in a weird way
i just hate a mod which can produce a situation where someone is just too far ahead and can easily run away or something, abd is really truly unfair a lot of the time but thats honestly why i love it; at any moment you can dm a wrist and win instantly - no wonder every decent bet server in history has been abd
lenshu, TK, all these mods are really great and fun but I never enjoyed playing them competetively, they rock in public rooms or with friends but there is just something so insanely demoralising about getting touched on your shin and losing the game for approaching instead of camping or running away - big disclaimer I am TRASH at this game

the worst part honestly is that its almost impossible to overcome the inertia of the current mods, like you say there are really fun lenshu variations which never seem to actually replace 3ng, there have been attempts for aikido, abd, and every other one and a lot of these really do work imo, but people just never want to change what theyve played for so long
like what happened to that mod where youre in a dome thing, that was awesome
