On a real note, I've been experimenting with that. Joints have the tendency to not rotate perfectly and slightly "dislocate", making the tires clip through the body of the car or floor. Was trying it with mario kart models, might revisit.
Also because objects in mods isn't a thing that can be auto-downloaded, making it a hassle for those who want to play the mod but can't see the objects. Had that happen with my mod that has 3D assets.
