It’s pretty easy to lump a group together when their loudest members are the ones doing the worst things, that’s why feminists were seen negatively even though it’s a noble cause. That’s why people view duelers negatively even though quite a few of them are not the same as the biggest ones.

You say this statement as if this isn’t a common place thing to use a blanket term to describe a specific group between everyone on every side, and as such you now can say “oh but sir’s a bigot so it doesn’t matter what he says” completely invalidating what he said because you didn’t like a sentence in there.
