Animals sense disasters
I've lately though about how animals can sense disasters that humans doesn't have any ideas of.

A famous example. The tsunami. The elephants began to move towards mountains before the tsunami came.
On a small island where uncivilized people lived, they knew that the tsunami was coming because of the birds abnormal behavior. All (or almost all) people on the island walked up mountains to survive the disaster.

What reminded me of this, was something that happened in Sweden. Some girls were riding horses in a stable. The stable collapsed. Luckily, they survived because the horses. A moment before the stable collapsed all horses ran to a corner of the house, where it didn't collapse as much.

How did the horses know that the stable was going to collapse?
How did the elephants know about the tsunami coming?
