Different animals have different sets of sense organs. Many hear noises at frequencies humans can't, and some can sense slight vibrations in the Earth to help them catch prey/avoid danger. Some birds (like rooks) sense approaching thunder (by increase in ozone i presume) and start to fly much lower (to avoid being the highest point)
