Seriously, as if every movie about the same thing is 100% identical. There's been so many movies about specific events or stories, yet they differ ever so greatly. I personally have no trouble at all with watching a movie about something that's been done a thousand times, it's still entertaining to me. Seeing as there's usually a big difference in the way the plot is worked out, even though it's a big cliché. In fact, I dare say he cliché makes it just that bit more enjoyable. Some movies just feel like they're outright missing something, the familiar cliché.

tl;dr stop whining about movies, they've still got explosions and hot actresses.

don't forget that movies are made for one thing. To entertain you. People don't make movies to be different, they make movies to entertain. If you are entertained, don't whine.

Balls to both of you xD When done right movies can be more than entertainment, they can be social commentary, which imo is the most important aspect of any sort of creative endeavor. Not to downplay movies that are strictly entertainment, everything has a place after all, but it sucks that that is largely what is focused on in main stream cinema.

Most movies follow a specific formula, and not only is not creative, it loses its entertainment value very quickly. Its odd because the only place to get good movies anymore (for the most part) is independent film. Without the motive of profit, they are free to experiment and have plots that actually make a point. If you want hot chicks, why not just watch pr0n? Explosions? get a video game.
