the sense of ownership comes from purchasing the game not downloading and playing it, in the sense of which you speak downloading any game illegally would be owning it in which case you don't own it or at least don't own it legally which doesn't give a sense of ownership, furthermore when you purchase a game you expect there to be a difference between the purchased and free version right? if so taking away one of the only things that gave us a sense of ownership takes away that sense making purchasing the game seem rather pointless.
