As others have said, I'd recommend starting with local mod. However, apps are only open in rare cases of dire need. Look around the boards, see if you can find somewhere that isn't doing well and that is on a topic that you enjoy. Then you apply. The ClanEvents team also has apps open so you could try going for that.
