you can earn skill only by starting with random click because you learn how to avoid self dq, set up, control your tori, and eventually make a good comebacks ( comebacks is the most important part of wushu )

play some wushu3 / brushu and you will see.

also random click / improv is a good form at wushu.

but if you want to earn some skill, get some intense interesting matches, then you had to practice with random click and setups.

this is hard but it benefit. no1 said that it will be easy. relax all style is great and it will teach you how to controll your body, ( but this may be hard for beginners ) also reseting joints to relax all state on start of each turn is also a great way to improve your skills, ( and this is even harder )
