The idea that, as the supposedly higher life form, therefor we should treat lower life forms with dignity and respect makes perfect sense to me. PETA has it's flaws, but the ideology is good. The industrialization of food has caused several problems, including food born illness, human death, both from sickness and (in its early days) work related accidents, and a complete transformation of our diet.
