Sadly, yes that is a pretty accurate statement. Even in highschool the history of other country's is pretty brief (I only made it 10th grade though, so it could be more in depth later on). Geography is pretty much left up to the student to pick up. As much as I hate to admit this, I didn't know until about a year ago what the U.K. consisted of. and Im 25. But again, its only because I personally never took the time to learn, not that the info isnt readily available from 5th grade and up or so.

However once you get into college your pretty much expected to know American history i think and the focus shifts to the rest of the world. It sucks, but Americas public schools are pretty terrible.

It COULD be worse though, in North Korea they probably only learn that North Korea is the supreme excellent nation, and that Kim Jong Il (spelled wrong) is the supreme excellent leader.
