You're probably taking far too of a holistic approach to wushu then. If there's one crippling flaw in your play, you shouldn't be focusing on improving overall. You should be purposefully putting yourself in the position where you must improve upon that flaw to succeed.

Basically what I'm recommending is: Get a friend who wants to learn how to comeback. Set the ED pretty far (let's call it 1500 ED to start), and race each other to the middle (a ground texture). Then 2000 ED. And so on and so forth. Improv every time so you know the opener isn't whats getting you there.

Do that, and in a week- guarantee the menial 500 ED CBs required of most wushu games are a breeze.
