It has nothing to do with dying twice. That has nothing to do with what the description says. Even if you die with nothing you will drop a bloodstain, that is why if you die on the journey your previous bloodstain is erased - you can only have 1 bloodstain at a time. Using the glitched/mis-described darksign does not create a bloodstain and therefore will not erase your previous one.



The item says it triggers on death. Yet when triggered manually it does something different to death.

Either it erroneously behaves differently when triggered manually, or the description is incorrect. Have you ever even used the item? Go try it, you will see for yourself it does not generate a bloodstain.
