I have a PSP 2000

uhm...

I've had it for a couple of years now. It works perfectly fine! nothing was wrong with it... This happened:

A while ago I was going to add stuff to my PSP
I got the PSP's USB cable
Connected it to my laptop
Waited for several hours...
Nothing happened nothing came out

Could the USB cable not be recognized?

My psp says:

Connect this system to a PC or a PS3 system using a USB cable
