This event was supposed to be fun and competitive, where the
competitiveness comes from comebacks and attacks.
Comparing this to a real life martial arts tournament, who the fuck runs when they get a hit and wait for some magical timer to stop and end the match? (a little over-exaggerated and probably not even relevant but you get my point ;) )
