I suggest using your arms and chest while keeping your feet flat on the floor to make movement. You will see a difference in terms if realism.

I use my foot to jump. But instead of kicking I create some 'friction' with the ground and put my leg back, it makes me push the floor and not kick it. I think many people have difficulty making jumps, but sometimes you a simple thing like changing your abs you have a completely satisfactory result.
