Adding another tier of enemy is more work than is immediately apparent, especially since they also need to be used. We have a very specific pattern for how enemies progress, and at the moment, it doesn't really have room for more. What I personally have thought of (and that i'm reasonably sure Chartle would also approve of), however, is a New Game+ mode, which will let you keep all previous upgrades, but will change all enemies into an upgraded variety so as to keep challenging you.
> Maybe some checkpoint at certain level to completely reset your spaceship (maybe make a new sprite for the 'level up' feel) to its default, then it's another journey to go! Because up until level 12+ or so, the spaceship has been an overpowered laser spewer and the scenery is too noisy. I feel like it need to go back to like level 3-4 feel, when you actually have a struggling spaceship and evading laser, rather than just go wild laserspamming.
That feeling is mostly intentional; you start off weak, then YOU get more powerful and kick massive arse, and then THEY get more powerful and challenge your status as the holy kicker of arses. Level 19 is the culmination of this so far, providing a challenge even if you have ALL upgrades (what with the higher tempo and longer duration, as well as numerous insta-kill enemies). Level 20 is going to be harder than this, and you're going to want every single upgrade you can get your grubby hands on for it. ;o
Also, i honestly don't think resetting the players ship would work well; the starter ship becomes underpowered VERY QUICKLY. Just try and tackle the first boss without upgrades if you want an example.
> To add more intensity to harder difficulty such as NIGHTMARE until EPIC MAN MODE >:C maybe you could add a speed up scrolling on those mode, fast paced game is real intense y'know :o
That could be a thing, actually, and it's not even all that hard to make. c:
> For some fancy graphic appeal, maybe add some foreground space smoke and some moving meteor in background. It could be a little distracting, but that's a way to increase player focus, right?
Oh yes, we definitely need more background goodies. I don't know if you've noticed, but there is only one background used by all 19 levels so far. :v
> Some storyline would be good, you know when you face a boss battle, and there's this cutscene of alien dialogue or something
Gonna say this right now, there's not going to be a major huge serious storyline, because it's not that kind of game. However, i do want to implement some intermission comics at some point, and they're probably going to be rather silly. :v
> About save game system, maybe a save slot for multiple saves?
We're not wholly sure what to do about the save game system, actually. While it's possible to have multiple save profiles, i think this game is short enough that it hardly matters. I mean, games like Binding of Isaac are longer per playthrough, and you don't get no saves there no sir.
> Another graphical appeal maybe red triangle with exclamation mark for warning sign when you're in low health, or some broken glass for more intensity ha
Not a bad idea, actually. It's currently a bit vague how badly you're actually hurt when judging by the reddening edges of the screen, it might be a neat thing to have an effect that flares up when you're below a certain percentage.
> I know the help section were meant to be fully texts, but maybe you could add an almanac or something for enemies data. It progressively unlock new enemy data as you encounter them in later level
Of course, we intend to make such a thing, as well as a more up to date and comprehensive help section.
> I'm sorry for my poor estimation calculation, you could add a signal for 'E' shot when the reactor charge gauge hit 55% and 'F' shot on 90%, maybe a 'ready!' signal
Been thinking about that, i just keep forgetting it again. Perhaps a couple of red lines in the energy meter to mark exactly where 55 and 90% are?
I really love it now that you can actually select weapon type and it gives various result
Excellent, this was fairly arduous to get working, so i'm glad you like it!
Is the badge system working correctly? I've finished like 5 times on NIGHTMARE on 0.6 but the badge still reset, also it's still in the old UI style (yeah, the orange one) you could polish it up by making it like a real trophy case, maybe even add more achievement like "Play *** hours", "Destroy *** Enemies", "Finished on *** Mode"
Nope, it ain't working right. I'm having a violent internal debate with myself if i even want it to exist, because achievements tend to urge people to play in silly and ungainly ways just so they can get that notoriously hard achievement.
Overall, you did an excellent job
