Flying Scissor Sweep (Turnover technique)
This tutorial is to help teach this move called the flying scissor sweep. It's something I've been developing ever since i was a brown belt. Consider it a more advanced, offensive turnover.
Inspiration: In brazilian jiu jitsu the scissor sweep is a very basic sweep but in the real world it requires you to be laying on your back which in toribash's aikido mod would result in an immediate dq. So combining the leverage technique from the bjj
scissor sweep and the "jump and post hand" technique from the sambo
flying scissor leg takedown i developed a hybrid of the two techniques resulting in a stealthy turnover attack.

Step by Step: Flying Scissor Sweep Demo V2.rpl
(In each image the joint combinations are shown AFTER each turn. And yes i color coded this bitch.)
Red = Critical Joints that must be used as shown
Colors other than Red = Indicate specific limbs not joints.
Joints not mentioned are best left as they were but can be customized to your preference.
(Parenthesis indicate additional details as well as various options for joints).
The flying scissor sweep starts as what looks like a basic side kick. This is good because it leaves you with other options and it disguises your attack. In this tutorial i am opening with a
Left Rotating Chest and if you understand basic toribash mechanics you know that the left leg is kicking, right leg standing, right arm sways foward, left arm sways back. If you prefer to open from the right, go for it. I have to stress that to do this move you NEED A
POSTING ARM- a hand to land on after you go airborne. This is your only life line through the whole move.
Grabbing Arm: Contract-Wrist,
Contract-Elbow, Contract-Pec, Relax-Shoulder. (Contract-Wrist optional but it gives you more "pop" when you jump. Youre aiming for his chest but anywhere on the upper body is fine.)
Posting Arm: Extend-Pec, Lower-Shoulder, Extend-Elbow. (You are keeping this arm out of your opponents reach. If there is ANY chance this arm will be grabbed then ABORT the scissor sweep or youre getting dropped on your head.)
Torso: LeftRot-Chest, LeftBend-Lumbar, Relax-Abs.
Lead Leg("kicking leg"): Extend-Glute,
Contract-Hip & Contract-Knee. (Often this leg is "bait" for your opponent. He will grab this leg which could help you perform the sweep (see
aquita - kissthis.rpl).)
Base Leg: Relax-Glute,
Extend-Hip, Relax-Knee, Extend-Ankle. (The knee needs to be straight but in this demo it is contracted while keeping contact with he ground which works best for more "pop". If you dont like it then Relax/Extend/Hold-Knee, they all work.)

Now its time to set up your sweep. Here you're going to get very low to the ground and essentially you will "load up" your attack for the next turn.
Grabbing Arm: Grab on. Extend-Wrist, Extend-Elbow, Lower-Shoulder, Extend-Pec. (You're pulling yourself to the ground.)
Posting Arm: Relax-Pec, Hold-Shoulder, Extend-Elbow, Extend-Wrist. (You should not post your hand until next turn but if you think you're going to hit the ground then: Extend-Pec, Relax-Shoulder. This will give a "soft" post to keep your head or shoulder from touching.)
Torso: RightBend-Lumbar, Hold-Abs.
Lead Leg: Extend-Knee, Hold-Hip, Extend/Relax-Glute. (Use the glute to aim your lead leg so in the next turn it will cut into your opponents legs.)
Base Leg: Relax-Glute, Contract-Hip,
Contract-Knee, Relax-Ankle. (Sometimes a contracted hip will put your base leg past your opponent's torso. If you think this is the case then Relax-Hip. You are aiming for your opponents armpit, you do not want this leg to go over his shoulder or past his torso.)

Its sweeping time. In this turn you will post and raise your hand to lift your opponent off his feet, and then scissor kick to flip your opponent onto their back.
Grabbing Arm: Contract-Pec,
Relax-Shoulder, Contract-Elbow, Extend-Wrist. (Pull your opponent in and then over your leg to the ground)
Posting Arm: Extend-Wrist,
Extend-Elbow, Raise-Shoulder, Relax-Pec. (You want your hand to post to the side of your opponent, but centered enough to raise them off their feet. Use the pec to aim where your hand will contact the ground and raise yourself up along with your opponent. Usually a relax pec will find the right spot naturally.)
Torso: RightRot-Chest, LeftBend-Lumber, Contract-Abs.
Lead Leg Extend-Ankle, Contract-Knee,
Extend-Hip, Contract-Glute. (This led is sweeping your opponents legs. Be careful because a contracted knee may get dangerously close to the ground. If this is the case or their legs are far to reach then Extend-Knee.)
Base Leg: Contract-Glute, Extend-Hip, Extend-Knee, Extend-Ankle. (This leg is kicking over or into your opponents torso.)
Now to finish the scissor sweep you must secure your landing and stay heavy on your opponent to force their dq. It's critical that your
posting arm is extending outward because sometimes your opponent will also post and this can put you in a bad position if youre not ready.
Grabbing Arm: Extend-Pec, Lower-Shoulder,
Contract-Elbow, Contract-Wrist.
Posting Arm: Extend-Wrist,
Extend-Elbow, Relax-Shoulder, Relax-Pec.
Torso: Contract-Abs
Lead Leg: Contract-Glute,
Contract-Hip, Contract-Knee,
Contract-Ankle.
Base Leg: Contract-Glute, Contract-Hip, Contract-Knee, Contract-Ankle.
