I know what it means to make sound like this (and I'm very bad at this). But I do not agree that it is more complex to 'produce'. 'cause at the end it's all about composition and dynamic. If you do something for real it becomes always complex. Also if you just play a single tom. Producers and Instrumentalists are musicians.. but just the fact that you play an instrument or produce a song don't makes you a musician.
