Say I wanted to see how long people in the TB community shower. I'd number the list, like you see I did, and I would randomly select maybe 100 to 125 of the usernames using a table of random digits or technology. I'd pm those people politely asking how long their most recent shower was, and I'd gather all the data and find the mean, standard deviation, and I'd make a dot plot or graph (or something similar) and display all the results here on the forums. You'd be able to see the average amount of time spent in the shower by your peers in the TB community, and you'd be able to calculate what percentages of people had spent a certain amount of time in their most recent shower. It's good for shits and giggles, I think.
