Matchmaking Hampa. Matchmaking, series, and time. Toribash is too fast for one match to decide a better player, too little for you to pool the best talent pool over only one month, and currently has no system to pair people of equal skill.
Make a matchmaking system, only allow people to play each other of similar ELO (like + or - 10 to 15), make them compete in a series of matches like best of 5, keep the competition RANDOM and among ONLY highly competitive mods, and make the season 6 months, not 1.
You'll see guys like:
FistofLife, Killer3366, Imapirate, TIcux, Mwah, Rai, Cold, iTemp, TIcux, Shockey, Shmevin, iRookie, Cowmeat, Moop, Moonshake, Diamond, and other extremely great well balanced players rise to the top. And ranks will mean something.
^ This.
It doesnt have to be matchmaking (even tho that would be optimal), even elo restricted servers are a step up. But as it currently stands, the elo system isnt viable unless you want to measure who plays the most. The public system is almost like clan ranks are atm, and you can see from CL how accurate they really were in the end. Again, this is improvement to the last system, but still far from optimal.
To me elo farming is fine, as long as in the end, there is a tournament that actually matters, and shows who is the best.
