i,too, usually counter that with a similar move,trying to attack the sides of oponents legs.
first turn hold all,contract knees(dont contract glutes)
second turn rotate chest(left or right),extend pecs,raise (left or right) shoulder,contract (l or r) hip,extend that knee, extend other hip.
Often this move pushes the oponent to the side,scrweing up his attack a little and leaving him in a bad position and also score some good points.
Its not 100% failproof ofcourse but quite reliable.
