But i do think it was weird that she just disappeared after Makoto lost

yeah i could see that but the only time Makoto's mother hints at any financial gain at all is when when she buys him that really nice coat. otherwise it seems like a midlife crisis to me. Other than the two simply going to the same love hotel I don't see any correlation, thus leaving my question on the disappearance with the flimsy solution of "he was better than her now" that's pretty lame, so lame infact that I can't help but think there is more to it.
