In a similar vein, you are saying the word cannot be used - therefore you are indeed saying to blacklist the word.
it doesn't always result in a ban. sometimes it results in nothing. reference: view report against orko.
Pimps ban sparked a larger diacussion about an ongoing issue that has existed for a long time. It is by no means the only instance. Other bans are relevant too, we are discussing rule changes, of course all related bans are relevant.
the issue of not being able to say nigger. a tale as old as time.
that's still not the target that sparked this discussion. had ele included the use of nigga, my posts might be a little different and touch on that subject. but he didn't, so they don't. and neither should yours. the slang is different than the root word.
It really is treated the same way though, otherwise there would not be so many ban appeals complaining about the fact that "nigga isnt racist" when they still got banned
if you want you can PM me ban appeals from bans that had 'nigga' or 'nigger' in acceptable context.
Here you clearly say the word cannot and should not be able to be used in a public setting whatsoever this is blacklisting the word not specifically using the key term "blacklisting" doesnt mean that you are not blacklisting the word.
another example is just below
that's not blacklisting the word. you can use it. if it was blacklisted than you wouldn't be able to use it at all. even now as we speak the word is not blacklisted even though you may or may not be banned for it.
there's a difference between, hey be careful saying this in public servers or you might get in trouble
and
hey don't say this ever or you will get banned
I disagree, you are giving the word more power by blacklisting it and giving it more attention than any other word, but youre right. The effect of our actions on the power of the word is not ghe topic of discussion.
I'm no-
fuck it
I agree, but in this case nigger is no different to any other word, I shouldnt have to join a room and have to endure anyone spouting shit any words at all, the fact that the word is nigger does not change this. Saying "its not ok because thats how life works" isnt really an argument, in some contexts it is fine to say it.
Besides if you get offended by the word you can get the ignore script at ignore people who use it. Why should their freedom of speech be undermined by another users freedom to be offended by nothing more than a word used in a non-aggressive way?
you're right you don't have to endure anyone saying shitty words that make you uncomfortable. anyone is free to report that. and of course the context will be looked into and if it is decided that person intended to offend anyone it may very well be dealt with.
See above.
Freedom of speech should not be undermined by freedom to be offended, when no aggression is present.
Or you could get an ignore script and not have to see it anyway.
then I should be able to insult anyone I want because I have the freedom of speech, if they get offended fuck them, their freedom to not get harassed doesn't try my freedom to say what I want (yeah maybe a little over the top, whatever). again, you are free to say it. but there are consequences. you're free to scam someone. but there's a consequence to when you do. it's just about regulating it.
shouldn't have to make all users who don't like the word download a fucking script to not see it fuckin spouted nonchalantly. having stuff like this restricted to private servers benefits everyone. you will literally know that you will get in trouble, warned, infracted, banned for saying some unsightly shit in a public server. as is the general rule already. like you're literally arguing that I should be free to spout whatever the fuck I want whenever I want because I have the freedom of speech and I shouldn't get banned for it because I was jooooking check my caaaahnteeext. it's more easily abused if we say ok, sry we aren't going to take away your freedom of speech cuz rights so say whatever. I'm looking for a solution that benefits everyone. not just those who want to say nigger jokes without being banned.
the fucking minute amount of 'falsely accused' (I use that so loosely) reports of racism are heavily outweighed by the reports and bans of people using the word crudely.
the people who want to use this word in jokes are few and far and simply telling everyone, hey, if you use this word publicly you might be liable to punishment isn't the same as never use this ever. that's what I'm getting at.
that's not even harsh or immoral or going against anyones freedoms. it's just like me telling workers at a news station, hey, you can't say nigger on live television. actually the fact is that you can say it, but you might get fired and fined. am I literally rebuking their freedom of speech because of that?
