Yes. More organised, wider ranged audience, and less of a load on yourself.
I'm positive that having an unconventional classification for contributors of the org. - members are essentially contributors in one respect or another - would be more than OK. A members list is there to show activity, overall contribution and collaborations, which is otherwise done through discussions, advertising, and events.
However if I could add one thought; something to show the names of everyone that has ever contributed to the org., along with their total contributions. This would undoubtedly prove to be crucial for an application towards official. Oh wait, you already have one...
