I think that with each year that goes by less and less ppl are capable of it, idk y but ppl just get more and more stupid, some blame the tv, others fast food, others the goverment; I would blame education (even tho those things I mentionated dont help much) it's each time easier to pass in school and kids are taught to remember things and not to understand them and understanding of things is the base of critical thinknig, at least in my opinion;

I would say I am capable of critical thinking, is it pessimist? na i dont think so, tho some might say it is since most of the times the worst thing happens (why? well you know doing stuff isnt easy and failing is always an option, in fact its easier to fail than to succed (you dont say onso)) Also shit takes time to happen, so yeah any try to hurry anything will mostly end up in failing hard with a few exceptions
