As AssassinPro has said, the reason they were offered an extension is that both parties displayed effort to arrange and finish their matches, so much so that only one game remained unfinished. If they still hadn't played any games and waited till the final day to announce their inability to finish them things may have been different.
It's also not like extensions are unheard of, previous years extensions were given almost every round. The only difference between this year and previous years is that the clans whom have been dq'd thus far were almost entirely apathetic to the whole thing and displayed little to no effort towards finishing their games. Nor were any extensions requested.
