The level of a threat should not be determined by its current state, but its potential.

What makes you think Islamic terrorism has "so much potential" that you think its possible that its death toll will increase by factors of 10^5 and catch up with the death toll from smoking in the foreseeable future? This seems pretty far fetched to me.

We are talking about the USA, a rise of terrorism in Afganistan, Pakistan and Syria is well documented but not relevant to the current terrorist threat in the USA, can I have the graph for just the USA if you can get it?
