If we've learnt anything in 2016, it's that Islamic terrorism is a global threat. You really think the US will be spared or forgotten about in the eyes of men who hold the opinion that their way of life is the truth and the only truth? Not at all. You're responsible for destabilising the middle east, just like the UK and several other countries, which is why everyone would be sensible to take an issue like this seriously.

But no, you'd rather focus on banning smoking while thousands of women are being raped, heads are being chopped off and buildings being blown. For me there is only one issue in this current time, and it's stopping that.

Sliding goalposts? Deflection?

You said that terrorism is the greatest threat to the United States right now. I showed you that the number of American deaths due to terrorism is basically nil in comparison to deaths by, for example, motor accidents, or as Small said, smoking. The Iraq war has nothing to do with that (beyond causing a preexisting uptick to the numbers - even though they're still basically nil).

When you attempt to incite fear over threats that don't exist, that's called fearmongering. In comparison to our existing social ills, terrorism is just a drop in the glass. Although, maybe if you keep dramatically accounting deaths the numbers will magically rise.
