I watched a few episodes of Texhnolyze and it felt a bit overwhelming and bleak from the first few episodes.
Paranoia Agent is a new one for me. thanks for the hint! I'll be sure to check it out.

Mind fuck isn't necessarily something I'm massively into, I don't mind complex plots and twists by any means.
But if I'd have to choose 3 favorite anime of all time they would be Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the slope and Monster which are pretty non-mindfuck anime.
I enjoy atmosphere over anything else. A kind of specific feeling you get from those shows previously mentioned.

Certainly shows like ergo-proxy or Texhnolyze with their bleak themes have a certain feel to them, but general depression isn't my go-to atmosphere.
