Yea I started collecting them when I lived in Sweden ~year 2000. Mum used to buy me some packs as a special treat now and then. They were a big thing in school too so I bought a few occasionally. Stopped some years ago now but I still have the collection and it's pretty nice if I do say so. ;o
I'll always remember that I thought it was funny how pokemon was for collecting/displaying/trading and Yugioh was what everyone actually played. Good good memories.
I broke my arm for a pikachu card.
When I was 6, this dude told me he would give me the card. He threw it in the wind, i was running after it, i tripped and fell right on those little asphalt bumps with my forearm.
i had a shadowless charizard from base set once and some one stole it from me at school in third grade. i didn't realize how much it was worth and i don't think the person whole stole it did either. it was just a really cool card
you reminded me of this story with yours. my teacher had taken my cards and said i could get them back at the end of the year. it was the first week of school and i didnt want to wait until the end of the year to get my cards back. my mom was a teacher at this school btw. i asked my mom if i could go to school early with her that day and she said yes. when we got there i told her i had to go to the bathroom. so i ran off and she thought i was going to the bathroom but i went to my teachers room. obviously my teacher would notice if the cards were missing so i took some crappy ones from home and replaced them in here drawer.
