Promoting Toribash Publicly
unfortunately, i have noticed.

that my name is at the end of a lot... of threads, despite my trying NOT to be the only one posting on the forums, that seems indeed be what happening.

i wonder why this game is a so inactive in the first place, and more importantly, why the developers haven't tried to push any sort of promotions. i think that this game could definably succeed in todays market, hell could probably charge $5-$10 for it. and i know this because you have a community of players that have been long standing for over a decade. hundred's of which sink massive amounts of USD into this game. Toribash can defiantly garner attention. and it can still draw in a newer audience, i see that with all the new account made from 2020 and onward. this game has every bit of potential but its like its been thrown to the side. and i cant for the life of me think why.

i honestly think that all it needs is a spark to light the flame for a new generation of players, and it is not at all infeasible.

let me know your thoughts and opinions. let me know if I'm missing and crucial details

and for the love of god don't let me be the only one posting in this thread

Look who's entered the chat.
Lots of people arguing about glaringly obvious things around here but I don't see anyone offing soultuons.
Would love to know your opinion on the matter. Do you have any ideas on how we could foster some activity? Or promote the game in a effective way? What do YOU think the problem is with toribash? Coming from a different perspective than the rest if us.

I'm not sure what this question is about. Who's "we" here? The whole community? Community without staff? You personally?
Because I'm personally content with what I'm doing to keep Toribash afloat. My opinions on what staff may do better do not really concern anyone but staff members, so I don't see any point discussing it here. And then for all other players, best ways to help the game thrive have always been either joining staff (easier) or doing something community related on their own (harder), I believe that hasn't changed. This community has historically been pretty much run by itself, so all the doors are open if you want to get something done.

Making Toribash available on mobile platforms, having some sort of social media presence (tiktok / instagram) and periodic game updates are, in my opinion, fairly effective in terms of increasing game discoverability. Will we attract more people if we run a $50K ad campaign? Sure. Does Nabi Studios have capacity for running such a campaign? No.

There's no real problem with Toribash as long as you have realistic expectations of what it is - an almost two-decade-old game with niche gameplay and very unconditional controls. Gameplay and controls are simultaneously key features and "problems" with Toribash which have always prevented it from attracting a wider audience. I suppose it's grown slightly worse now with gamers being used to super intuitive controls and AAA level of polish which just did not exist on this scale back in 2008 when Toribash was on the rise, but the game has always had an insane drop off rate due to how hard it is to get into. And these things are not something you can (or need to?) "fix" without making Toribash something entirely different.

Oh also to those who find themselves in agreement with akina's point of view, try making something of your own.
Dunking on people like you trying to create stuff for others to enjoy (doesn't really matter if it's Toribash related or not) will never yield positive results - of course, assuming that is your goal and you're not just trying to feel validated by dumping your insecurities online. All it does in the end is hurt those people and make them rethink whether the effort they're putting into the work is even worth it.
