Alternative solution to transparent textures for body/joints
Random thought but I think it would be cool if, instead of allowing invisible textures, any transparent sections of the texture instead show the gradient or lack thereof from behind it. For example, if I had a transparent section in one of my shins and I was wearing both vampire gradients as well, then the transparent section would show the red beneath it.

Pros:
  • There's no need to police the soft rule of textures needing to be at least 50% visible or whatever the margin was
  • Allows a more dynamic feel to textures, you could make a black design and change the background colour simply by switching gradients
  • Gradients would no longer be obsolete once you have textures
  • Creates the opportunity to have pure white sections on your textures rather than the weird off-white that artists will be well aware of

Cons:
  • 0.1% (plucked from thin air really but its not common) of people use transparency in their textures
I'm intrigued to hear peoples thoughts on this!
"An American monkey, after getting drunk on brandy, would never touch it again, and thus is much wiser than most men." ~Charles Darwin
It's a decent idea in vacuum, however I'd imagine the Cons would overshadow the Pros due to the amount of work needed to make this change. I don't know for sure, I'm not a developer. And I'm also not sure if this game still got one
