Remember how Toribash can have SCRIPTS?
Check out what Dafe made,

http://forum.toribash.com/showthread.php?t=85395

Pretty epic that script is. There's a whole lot of scripts out there, but really, they don't get much love.

However...

As of lately I've noticed a whole lot less scripts churning out. So I'm keen for you guys to fill out my poll so I can get an idea on peoples thoughts about the scripts currently available in Toribash.

Fill out that poll, and disucss the topic.

If the community asks, we can always add more scripting functionality, so remember, this topic is for what you guys want.

Lastly...

The person with the top-rated post in this thread regarding the discussion of this matter, will win a flame, so get them heads crackin'. This closes this time next week.

Some points that can be discussed are: ease of use, scripting functionality, fun, time etc...

Let's get that Toribash Scripting Community back up and running!

I love scripting, it adds a different variety of fun things and interesting things that can be done on toribash! :3

Yep that's true, but I don't see any innovation these days, and I definitely don't see much production from the community.

What's the problem in this regard? What can we do about it? Do we need to add something else to our API?

Or do we need to set up some new Scripts/Mods board, or change the organisation of the existing boards so that there's a cult following? I mean, like competitons, 24/7 servers with automatic mod rotation etc.

People, get the discussion rolling! Let's bring some user-made fun into Toribash, rather than contracting some shit, and running away.
Dafe's script has really opened my eyes to what lua can really do for toribash, i can't imagine what kind of cool shit he will be able to do if what he said gets added :)

I agree with Blam about the database. If more scripts came packaged in with the game, or were more easily found and downloaded (as opposed to digging through the scripts board and hoping to find a good one) then it would let more people know about scripts and what they are capable of. The more people who know, the more they get made, more new ideas, etc...

And yes, the replay fix would be good also, and multiplayer capabilities seems like a no brainer as a good idea.

Scripts can be handy, or can also give someone the edge in a game. For example the movesaver is a bit of a cheat if you ask me.

I enjoy using the scripts that people make, for example a dismemberment script i liked playing with. You put the mouse over a joint and pressed "q" i think, and the part would dismember. It was funny going on armremover then throwing your dismembered shins at uke ;)

have any of you played the script where you fight against uke in real time? I can't remember the name of it but that was crazy, you pressed keys and your tori would turn and punch and stuff. Another fun script was a script that shot your hands feet and head off, with different key strokes. So you could point your hands at uke and blow through him.

There aren't alot of multiplayer scripts, im sure that's because you could cheat by dismembering your opponent lol. The only script i can think if that would effect multiplayer gameplay would be the movesaver.

The only reason i can think that scripts aren't so popular is because they aren't mentioned enough. I only found them by wandering through the forum. Since there isn't a great demand for scripts maybe the scripter's just got tired with it? Im sure that if i was making scripts and wasn't getting anything out of it i wouldn't want to continue.

If you agree with me, a rate up would be nice. Though i don't think i can compete with dafe's +7 rating on the 2nd post ;o
