Watch the whole video. This guy is a fucking genius haha.



It's interesting how we can create basic "awareness" of environment out of plastic tubes and lemonade bottles. He makes basic mechanical "brain" for these robots that allow them to sense tornadoes and water.

Plus it's astounding how efficient the walking mechanism is.
But kids these days don't appreciate this stuff...

It's just that our sensory apparatus and 'processing unit' is much more complex.

We respond to environment all the time, no matter what we do.
It is probably par for the course since he is a genius...but home boy has a god complex. Not only do they claim to have made "beasts" but he claims he has "reinvented the wheel".

All small quibbles aside though, this shit is awesome, I spread it around. Viva la TED! I love how something so simplistic can mimic life. And it honestly makes me wonder why the f*ck it took us so long to figure this sort of thing out.
