The vast majority of Canada is English speaking. Quebec is the only Provence where French is Primary rather than secondary (it has around 8million people). However, due to the tourists and such, many quebecers learn English. Further east, in the smaller pacific coastal provinces, most people are bilingual, and many are completely fluent in both languages.
I'm from southern Ontario, so French is never used in daily life. I have never used it in public. I am choosing to learn it because I would use it if the opportunity arises, it would be cool to be able to speak two languages, and I just really want to say I can XD. Silly reasons, but if it's enough to make me learn it, that's ok. Plus, it might help for future jobs.
