Thank you so much for putting this tutorial up. I have been practicing parkour for about 2 solid weeks and your video has been invaluable! In fact; I would have quit a long time ago if not for this video.

I practice on houseparkour a couple hours a day and have managed to take about 6 pretty wobbly steps and jump over the first wall; most of it accidental but its progress :-p I plan on posting replays to show my improvements once I figure out replays and the forums.

I remember when my maximum number of steps was 6!!

At that time it felt impossible to beat 6, so I set my target at 7 steps, i would do whatever it took to make that 7th step, until one day 7 steps was a piece of cake. Just like that, keep increase your goals and before you know it you're running non stop. Ahh.... The good old learning days.
Parkour like you've never seen before:

Ok I am pretty experienced in this field, and i can say there is no easy way to learn how to run or parkour or trick. Its practice. Now what i can help with is learning to balance your tori to continue a run or gain momentum. What i think of my arms of, are as weights used to counter offset balancing.

Now what i usually dont do is ever touch my chest unless im relaxing it to start a jump. You want to work with your lumbar and pecs. Never contract the pec of the current stepping leg. That is a sure fire way to fuck up your balance and flow and continue to not learn properly.

Now remember this is no easy way to learn to freerun, but you can make it easier by ditching the youtube run and trying to learn a custom run. You can use the youtube run format but change up certain things. The youtube run doesnt work forever. I have learned 3 custom runs i have made up myself that i am willing to share with anyone interested in them.

Now all in all i can say that to learn free running, focus on learning how to balance your tori, then try to string in a running motion. Then from that add in turns and such.

Hope i helped someone <3

This all comes with practice. I always wondered the same myself.
What will help the most is experimenting on ways you can jump and experimenting on things you can relax, contract, and hold to make a realistic jump and landing. Just keep at it you will get better in time.

splish splash Aeon is still trash
after a jump relax into the fall so it could look as smooth as possible, afterwards, land in a way to support a running stance.

Just gonna throw something out there that alot of people say is something you shouldn't do.

And that is using your chest during a run, wich i do like 90% of the time to make it better looking and keeping my pec movement smooth and good looking.

And by that i don't mean exagerated side to side twists of your chest, but literally 1-2 frames of turning your chest. Playing around with it makes your balance better and your usage of glutes and everything else, bla bla. Become better.

Don't count any joint out, and for the love of god. Don't be scared to experiment, don't do the same thing over and over and expect to become better fast. You won't get anywhere without trying new stuff. So i encourage anyone to just try new things out since it just gives you the boost to becoming better.

If anyone aswell actually needs propper help or tips on anything, or want someone to help out with something, i'm more than happy to jump up and offer my time.

"Would you say its okay if i just stick with the "youtube run" forever?"

Well, it is a game, just take pleasure with it

When I started running, I was just happy to make 2-3 steps then trying to not fall... Who care if you are doing youtube or custom run ?

I don't.

If you do, continue playing, don't make pressure on yourself, things will come by themselves with habits.
Habits in Toribash are like setups moves that you can recognize and you will "know where you are going" when you are launching a move.

Habits come with experience. Experience come with time.

It is pretty cool that you can do some running steps in a few hours ;)

So I see your problem straight away, try taking it slow in the first steps.
make sure you are actually leaning forward every time after every space, the ghost is your friend when it comes to running. Also holding is your friend when running.
