Hawk, I think art is art music is music, noone can judge what is music whats not.

I really don't enjoy black metal at all, and Varg's attitude made me have a pretty bad prejudgement about Burzum, so I only tried listenning once, didn't like the vocal and there's no melody on the songs, just instrument's ramming 24/7

To me, I don't care what is the genre, what the lyrics are about, if they're satanist or christian, if they are deep or senseless. What matters most is the medoly (which black metal has none)
But I also like heavy stuff, and the heaviest I can go without losing the melody is with Melodic Death Metal such as Arch Enemy: (which I'll be going to their concert on this friday and I'm so excited god damn it)

Concerts are cool, but they're not my thing. And that type of music isn't really my thing, either . I enjoy things (electronically produced music) with bass or a happy/calming tune. I also kind of like Folk-ish music. The Goat Rodeo has some amazing artists in it.

Also a reminder that I need one more moderator. Any volunteers?
both rythm and melody are equaly important tbh. But bands that just smash things with neither of them doesnt sound good to me. (take Cannibal Corpse as example)

And they do both matter. Getting the perfect blend is difficult, but when it happens it can be truly amazing.

I don't know if I've already posted this song, but here is a good semi-calming song:

I don't think its hard, specially if I can understand what's being said, their previous singer (Angela Gossow) had a pretty good growl, and she said that what matters most for her was wether or not the growling is understandable. I don't really care about the technique (because I'm not aware of them, they are useful I know), it just have to be understandable, and have nice tone (not too squeaky or too strong, but that depends on the complexity and weigth level of the instrumental behind it)

When its extremely heavy at the point you cant understand the growls is when I begin to dislike it, and I know that arctic monkeys one, kinda cool but not my thing.

hmm, maybe a bit too peaceful, but, still pretty nice
