On the contrary, this election showed just how much democracy can fail. Clinton and Trump were the two most hated presidential candidates. Ever. Nobody wanted to need to make the choice between them, but still voted for them in direct rebellion against the candidate they hated. Thats not how democracy should work.
It also showed just how easily manipulated a lot of people are. Trump was only represented as anti-establishment and anti-authority, he's never actually been those things. Even prominent people like Milo, who you'd think should look at the ways Trump has tried to silence and censor people who make fun of/critisize him and rail against the clear disdain for free speech, was easily taken with him purely on the grounds of believing Trump represented free speech at his core.
The only good thing to come out of this is Bernie got liberals fired up and then wikileaks showed them how awful the DNC was, so we may hopefully see a strong progressve movement to really revolutionize the DNC and the liberal movement in the United States. It's just too bad we have to fight and suffer a Trump presidency with republican control of congress in the meantime.
