The problem with that is that it doesn't have the current system's possibility of making a comeback. As is, the right couple wins at the right time can make all the difference.

I don't think i'd be as attracted to this. Tennis is a very psychological game, especially at that sort of level, and often what separates a champion from the second place is the ability to play well on the important points. Federer saving four break points in the second set tie breaker, and going on to win the set was a true example of that. Whatever people say about him, he is a natural champion due to this ability to pull out the great play when he REALLY needs to.
