I think that this is an odd topic. As if to stay that the internet isn't real. It is real, millions of dollars are made online every day. Friends are just like money, you can save them or use them. Are internet friends any less valuable, no. How much do you know about your internet friends? You answer will tell you how good of friends you are. You may have never bumped into each other on the street, but you may very well be a deep part of each other's lives. Someone to trust. Isn't that what what a friend really is?

well, internet is like a 2. life. u can be everyone there and no one will ever know who u are really. ill just use as example : u could tell everyone to be a girl. just to see how girls be handled in a social community.
but if u really trust these people then, without any proof. your fault.

This is poor rebuttal. Yes people lie, but if you e-chill with someone, been facebook buddies for years, skype with them and know their family it is an entirely different thing. I doubt many people have the free time to constantly fabricate a persona in every detail to trick people for that long for any reason. How long have you known people? If I walk up to you on the street and tell you i am a female dentist would you know if it was true? No you wouldn't. Con artist are short term players, friends last a lifetime.

People who look trustworthy are con-artists. I bet that a lemon car dealership has the most trustworthy looking people working there. You can't tell someone's gender by looking at them. Come to America sometime and we will amaze you with technology.
You can only see what other show you. The medium of how they show you is irrelevant.
This is really just run of the mill paranoia. Society gets scared when people can have secrets. On the internet you are not subject to your local community judging you/ The internet is social relief. Some people abuse that. However, this can be countered by following simple common sense. I don't go telling everyone where I live the second I meet them, do you? You run more risk from anyone you meet in person than you do with any you meet online. People online can't just decided to beat you to death and then do so. Even identity thieves still prefer to go through your garbage than through your inbox. I don't understand all the fear. People probably need a better education as to what real threats are.
