That's totally fine Ben, i put that note in the bottom of the OP for a reason. :U

Anyways, thanks for all the input, guys! Just to sum things up so far, the vibes i'm getting is that it'd generally be okay to raise the bar, but not TOO much.

It's not quite as conclusive about the current members, but what i'm gathering is that we should probably not kick people outright, but give them a wink wink nudge nudge about getting their butts into gear.

Regarding ORMO's purpose, it still seems we're around for inspiration, which is great!

And now i'm hella tired, so i shall keep an eye on this thread and keep gathering info for a possible course of action.

I really want the bar to be raised.
ORMO deserves to be legendary. Not half good and flooded with people who never even posts after being accepted.
I remember joining the org back in july last year (page 275, don't look though, it's embarrassing), the standards were really low back then too, even I got in, and I really sucked back then.
I'd say it's time ORMO gets epic again, too bad it's easier said than done.

oh yeah
People right now are lazy/busy even to review apps.
You wouldn't have enough guys willing to train others consistently as the experiment with Bleu proved in the past. ORMO wouldn't subsist as a training org and it was never its purpose to be such an org.

Prmo on the other hand, would need mass acceptance by the actual elite, which is something highly unlikely to happen as the experiment with "The Team" kind of proved.
We're still kids in buses longing to be free.
My answer remains the same from the first page of the thread, but still that's just my opinion

same result, but doesnt change the landmark known as ORMO and doesnt require, or is easilly accepted by the elite.
I think this is necessary when you have a look at the size of your memberlist

Toribash Texture Mob did it with the Texture Mob Juniors.
eventually the org stood on its own and became GATA.

if you want to raise the bar, you need to find a way to fill the gap underneath you.

This gets my vote.
Makes sense.

It's about time I heard this idea again.

The main reason that makes BenD's idea so unappealing is the fact that it's a sort of idea that we've seen failing throughout the years, and still do.
We have quite a few orgs that offer training to people, yet there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm from people to actually teach and give extensive CnC, and those who have the will to do so lose it shortly after.
In my opinion Bleu was the perfect example of how that kind of idea doesn't quite work with the Toribash niche.
I'm more pending towards what Oracle was saying of "dynamics within the organizations without segregating it fuels a drive to accomplish".

Oracle: The very few times I have been to irc lately still lead me to believe that ORMO keeps on being a place for people to bounce ideas off. At least I still do it with NutHug everytime I'm there.
Now I think it's up to the new generation to use IRC for the same purpose because, believe me, it makes a HUGE difference on your game.

I agree with the "acknowledge past achievement" part but in my opinion we're doing so by keeping the old folks on the memberlist. They were the best on their time so it'd seem unfair to me to lose that record and kick them out.
As for acknowledgement of people like ChezDa that are not in the org, we do perpetuate their memory and naturally refer their work to new people here and there, but that's as far as we should go (again, in my opinion) as our focus should be mainly on the people that are at their prime or close to it.

Your competition idea seems great to me. Rewarding activity and not requiring people to do something specific for it, not limiting their imagination, good stuff.

It was still a plan but it doesn't sound too hard for us to manage.
We've got ways to provide the prizes, people to judge the replays and the logistics were already broken down enough with Oracle's post.

Shookman's seal of approval is important too, also shook look at the private board plz
