Problem is: Toribash revenue isn't enough to have paid pro staff (that's kinda obvious by now). I would be even bold to say that TB staff is bunch of indie-programmers that gather in some basement every week and play their gig for few hours, just for fun.
It's far from pro staff.

So, it was a project with limited developing capabilities from the beginning. Maybe there was some point in time when it all could have advanced, maybe a period when TB earned enough to make some serious changes, but that chance was missed and Toribash stayed in the bubble of mediocrity.

I agree that game looks like good E-Sport product. If it was polished further to be more 'friendlier for the masses' with interface, tutorials, controls, optimizations and some eye-candy effects with more personal look, things would probably be different by now.

Looking for competent staff to develop a game on a forum of that game tells much about Toribash 'seriousness.'

It was naive assumption that TB will progress into something more than indie-game. And, being 'old farts' by now, we are not naive anymore. :]
So, I don't see how our 'bitterns' can help the current situation TB is in...

We got to find an investor for tb! ^ ^

Feel free to try and make a compelling fighter where all characters are user-made. Then have fun competitively balancing it. "Using modern 3D technologies by selecting the library[...]", you clearly have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Toribash's core gameplay is two physics objects of equal make manipulated by the player. Changing from that core mechanic would change the game and the focus of the gameplay from player skill to something that I don't even know how to put into words.

you completely didnt understood what nirs, im and bojan had in mind. and please, dont rage of my bad arguments, bad knowleges, bad screens, and bad english if you dont like such point of view. that was just my IMHO.
thanx.
Even though I agree (sadly) that Toribash isn't fast paced or "common" enough to make it as an E-sport, in my opinion, the game could be so much more than it is now.

Having a couple of paid and decent devs, changes could be made a lot faster, new features could arise, and maybe even make it more appealing to wider audience.

There's the paying problem though. With a bigger crowd it'd most likely get easier, that's why Greenlight seemed like such a great idea to me (I admit that I know very little about it, but anything with a potential to attract a lot of people in a short period of time sounds great for the game).
So from my poorly educated view on the matter, what we need is to get better advertising as a first step towards something bigger.

The recent features hampa added to the game are great though (recent as in late 3.9 to 4.4). Undoubtedly drastic improvements if you realize their potential and still follow the game.
We're still kids in buses longing to be free.

PR is a tool, not a purpose. PR is a tool to sell stuff. as simple as that. you need it to boost sales or to get sales. but not to freaking giving away stuff for free. thats just madness

what is the point of pr if there is completely no way to get a profit?
ingame economy is completely broken, so throwing cash into a game is mostly pointless and would not work. hamp didn't even added price tag for game! he didn't even added any other payment systems.

are you fucking kidding me?

where is the dam business plan and who was insane enough to suggest to use one of the cheapest and most powerfull games marketing tools for such huge market as steam without thinking how to fucking earn money?

holy cow! hamp, do you even realise what an opportunity you just fucked up?

ah well, i should not care anyway. thats not my pocket but i'm shocked.

The shop prices could probably need some optimization but that's not really a great issue as the market flows just fine as it is.

If Toribash wouldn't generate profit it would have ceased to exist a long time ago. If steam gets Toribash more users there are more potential customers and therefore more potential profit.

I can't really see through your reasoning.

if toribash economy is working then tc purchases throught nabi are common thing.
is that so? no.

if there is no reason to spend money in nabi shop to buy tc such f2p model is considered as broken. as simple as that.

no1 should even care whats going on on marketing forum it's not relevant. the only thing that matters is ammount of transactions between nabi and players.

10$/usd, which is the common ratio it gets sold at between users.
There are many other ways you can spend your money on toribash such as account upgrades, qi, fancy items, tc boosters and whatnot.

players should not be able to sell tc and and if they have any economic interactions with each other it should be limited. ideally there should be only one agent player deal with - nabi shop.

and if you spend money for forum instead of game thats broken also.

intended f2p model was "want to look fancy - donate"
but we all see that it didn't work at all.

making nabi shop the only agent will drasticly increase income and will allow to prevent inflation. even $/tc rate could be adjusted just like all the pices to make tc worth more and allow more popel to spend money, for example throwing 1$ usd for game for some ammount of tc, but not much ofc.

tons of ways to get shit done.

you should really give a try to work at some trading company, so you will understand the way things work.

Let's keep these talks away from here. This thread is to talk about the interview, not to discuss possible ways of killing the community by making everything paid.

Lets prohibit the sale of tc's between users. Tc's farm problem will be solved as a bonus. ^ ^
