Toribash 3.4 (codename grippeh)
Hey,

I have a new release with private servers. This means you can create your own Toribash rooms. This also means that the clan servers have been removed. If you want a clan server just create it on the fly. If you create a server you will be operator in it (and get the @ prefix). With this you can do the usual server administration but also give and take @ from other player sin the room (using /op /deop).

That was tottaly bad, many people seem to hate it, including me. It was better to have your permanent servers, as they were, without glitches like there come random people who are already authed, random people are getting muted or speced just after entering, etc. >.>

Actually.

You paid for it, you used it.

Now it's free.

That's like... buying some food and eating it, then someone turns around and says it's free over here. Sure you'll be annoyed, but if you were mature you'd be like, "fuck it, let's get another one"
don't unban, he has hard coded userid bypasses everywhere.

I would like to know this as well, particularly since I didn't even get to keep mine long.

Wow! One whole forum, where other people can spy in on us! We can pretty much post topics there, and that's all, that's awesome! Oh, wait! We can make a whole board that we can customize to look, feel, and be whatever we want it to because we can use HTML code and a lot of other functions that come with the board! Gee, since 1 forum costs 50$, I wonder how much a big board costs? GASP, IT'S COMPLETELY FREE!

I would rather have clan servers back. Or at least get some advantage to our normal private servers.

The main reason for this was that we couldn't give people clan servers. Some clans waited 2 months, some didn't get it at all. This was not sustainable and caused quite a bit of grief.

Yes, server did cost a fee before, primarily for administration purposes since it took time to setup etc.

I think the new system, which is based on the IRC protocol, will be able to last longer and be more self sufficient.

That said... I can't seem to do anything but that's probably just because I haven't learned how yet . Question: when I make a server and try to set password, it asks me for the password... is there a default password for new servers or something?

Thanks, and thanks for all the hard work on the new version.

The password now is to lock the servers. I.e people who join the server needs to enter a password to be able to play and speak. This feature is meant for tournaments where you don't want it to be over crowded.

DON'T USE this feature if you just want a regular server.

The commands for passwords are:
/passwd secret - set new password
/pass secret - enter password when entering the server
/passwd - clear the password and remove pwd protection
I like it I thought at first that I would hate it, but after I played a few matches and realized that the basic game-play was left in tact I really was'nt too upset, in fact I was well satisfied.

When you think about it the new server system has pretty good points to it. Namely that it will be much more efficient for everyone involved. Lets face it folks, 75% of the Clan servers were almost constantly empty, even the OLDA server, which I loved, was almost always empty unless we put a silly enough mod in it.

Also with the new system not only does it automatically refresh the servers every time you click "multiplayer" (HUGE WIN!!!) but the refresh time is shorter now that we have the master server and less empty servers to refresh.

Bottom line: Good job Hampa. I would sex you if I could get to your country

As I wrote before to hampa in my email, there's just NO point of keeping a repository available for debian systems if it doesn't contain the newest version of the software!

As I think I said in the email. The Linux version will come after we release 3.4.
I have done a new release of the server fixing some bugs we had during the first day.

I am now moving over to some fixes for the client and hopefull we get a linux version out soon as well.

If you still get bugs related to MP, please post in the bug thread in support.

cheers,
hampa
