Really good job nonetheless

wow, thanks for the comment. great to know someone with a good taste likes my garbage

about the 1:40 thing, unfortunately i am not good enough to throw in unpredictable stuff and still keep a nice rhythm, but i have been trying to use wacky synths and instruments. not so much in this one though, since it was result of boredom. but, again, thanks
oh yeah
ah, i see and agree with what you mean. piano chords on a 4/4 rhythm is one of the best ways to get an emotional chorus across, but it is also really done to death (since it is so good). i am going to (again) blame that on my lack of skill and experience. i wish i knew how to get the same feel, but make it more interesting. i will definitely try to do that with this song though, thanks for the post

i did make this out of boredom, but i have been fiddling with stuff for about 2 years plus, i use a tonshit of samples in my tracks, only about 50% of the sounds in my tracks were made on a synthesizer. i even made a track using only samples a few days ago drums, i sample them 90% of the time. i have like 5 gb of drum break samples lol

one thing i really enjoy about experimenting with music is that whenever i learn something new, i feel really empowered and knowledgeable. every time i read about a new technique or sound effect, and then try it out on my tracks, i think to myself "holy shit this is so useful how did i even make music without knowing this"
oh yeah
oh shit a comment
i guess its my lucky day since i got posts from two people who know about muaic

the piano didnt glitch everything you heard was done on purpose

the drums thing: most of the drums i use are breakbeat samples, which tend to not have low frequencies (and if they do i usually get rid of them). that is why i imagine you enjoyed the drums more on the 303 abusing track, it had a defined dnb beat. i really like using breakbeats in my tracks because i am a huge breakbeat fan myself, and i am not too big on bassy kicks but i see how they would define a stronger rhythm. i really dont feel good writing this paragraph because it feels too much like an excuse for the criticism, but i like to think of it more as a justification i do like using hard kicks though, and i have in previous tracks

the bass: i blame my lack of bassline knowledge on my strange taste. i really hate mid-low frequency bass sounds, so most of the time i use only a sub bass and an extremely subtle mid sounding bass synth. i really should learn how to bass

sidechain: sidechain has been ruined for me ever since everyone started sidechaining everything to the kick (ESPECIALLY THE PAD). i dont use it often, but i would like to learn more creative uses for it, so i do plan on messing around with the sidechain compressor

thank you for your long post

edit: oh what the hell. i actually believe the pad in planet 7 is off key somehow. bleh i will fix it tomorrow

oh yeah
youre too kind, but thanks
honestly i dont see what is so videogamy about the stuff i upload, but i do appreciate it. i am not very good at theming so any kind of feel you get from my stuff is probably accidental
